黃石理工學(xué)院是一所以理、工科為主，經(jīng)、管、醫(yī)、文、教育等學(xué)科門類協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展的多科性本科院校，坐落于素有“江南明珠”之稱的湖北省第二大城市——黃石市。校園占地面積2189畝。臨磁湖萬頃碧波，倚青龍山千畝青翠，草木蔥蘢，鳥語花香，環(huán)境優(yōu)雅宜人。學(xué)院擁有校舍建筑面積54萬平方米，教學(xué)科研儀器設(shè)備總值8170.46萬元，館藏圖書80.9萬冊(cè)，電子圖書25.46萬冊(cè)，中外文期刊2000余種，圖書館被評(píng)為“省級(jí)優(yōu)秀圖書館”。學(xué)院辦學(xué)力量雄厚，服務(wù)體系完善，多次被評(píng)為省級(jí)文明單位，是育人、成才和科技創(chuàng)新的理想學(xué)府。 黃石理工學(xué)院設(shè)有機(jī)電工程學(xué)院、電氣與電子信息工程學(xué)院、環(huán)境科學(xué)與工程學(xué)院、化學(xué)與材料工程學(xué)院、計(jì)算機(jī)學(xué)院、土木建筑工程學(xué)院、醫(yī)學(xué)院、數(shù)理學(xué)院、經(jīng)濟(jì)與管理學(xué)院、藝術(shù)學(xué)院、師范學(xué)院、外國(guó)語學(xué)院、國(guó)際學(xué)院、高等技術(shù)學(xué)院、繼續(xù)教育學(xué)院、網(wǎng)絡(luò)學(xué)院、體育部、人文社會(huì)科學(xué)部等18個(gè)院(部)級(jí)教學(xué)單位，開設(shè)有30個(gè)本科、51個(gè)專科專業(yè)，其中環(huán)境工程、機(jī)械設(shè)計(jì)與制造專業(yè)為教育部教學(xué)改革試點(diǎn)專業(yè)。 黃石理工學(xué)院現(xiàn)有機(jī)械電子工程和環(huán)境工程2個(gè)省級(jí)重點(diǎn)學(xué)科、1個(gè)省級(jí)優(yōu)秀中青年科技創(chuàng)新團(tuán)隊(duì)、3個(gè)院級(jí)重點(diǎn)學(xué)科、2個(gè)院級(jí)扶持學(xué)科、3個(gè)院級(jí)優(yōu)秀中青年科技創(chuàng)新團(tuán)隊(duì)。設(shè)有省級(jí)CAD培訓(xùn)基地、網(wǎng)絡(luò)中心和長(zhǎng)江環(huán)境工程研究院、黃石正一機(jī)電研究所等7個(gè)科研院所及機(jī)械示范中心、先進(jìn)制造技術(shù)、自動(dòng)控制、電工電子、環(huán)境工程綜合、基礎(chǔ)化學(xué)、網(wǎng)絡(luò)技術(shù)、計(jì)算機(jī)基礎(chǔ)、建筑材料、電子商務(wù)、服裝藝術(shù)綜合等近50個(gè)實(shí)驗(yàn)室。黃石理工學(xué)院現(xiàn)有專任教師900余人，其中教授（正高級(jí)職稱）50人、副教授（副高級(jí)職稱）296人，博士、碩士375人。教師中有6人享受國(guó)務(wù)院特殊津貼，7人獲省級(jí)有突出貢獻(xiàn)中青年專家稱號(hào)，1人為湖北省高層次人才，2人享受省政府專項(xiàng)津貼。11人為兼職碩士生導(dǎo)師，另有外聘知名學(xué)者10人為兼任教師。 Huangshi Institute of Technology (HIT) composed mostly of science and technology schools is a public college administrated by Hubei Committee of Education. It is located in Huangshi,the pearl to the south bank of the Yangtze River, the second largest city in Hubei Province. It faces Cihu Lake and leans against Qinglong Hill. The college occupies an area of 145 hectares, and the total area of the teaching buildings and dormitory buildings is 520,000 square meters. The total value of the teaching and research apparatuses is about 50 million RMB. The library boasts 640,200 volumes of books and about 2000 Chinese and overseas periodicals. And the logistic system is perfect. HIT has900 full-time teachers. There are 21 professors, 265 associate professors, 11 doctors and 160 masters. 4 teachers have been awarded special allowances by State Council, one special allowances by the government of Hubei Province and still another 5 the title of “Distinguished Youth Expert” for their great contribution at Provincial level. On the garden-like campus stand modern teaching buildings, research buildings, laboratory buildings and libraries. Between the buildings are green lands and tall trees. We can enjoy the beautiful shadow of the trees. The campus is quiet that it is an ideal place for the cultivation of talents and innovations in science and technology. There are altogether 16 teaching units,School of Mechanic and Dynamic Engineering, School of Electric and Electronic Information Engineering, School of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Medicine, School of Construction, School of Business Administration, School of Economics, School of Computer and Information Engineering, School of Art, Normal School, International School, School of Foreign Language , School of Mathematics and Physics , School of Chemical and materials Engineering , Physical Education Department, Humanity and Social Science Department as well as Modern Educational Technological Center and the Adults Education School. There are 20 specialties for undergraduate education and 50 specialties for vocational and technological education, among which are the specialty of Environmental Engineering, the specialty of Mechanical Manufacturing and Equipment, are authorized as the pilot projects of the State Educational Reform. HIT boasts CAD Training Center, Computer Network Center and 26 laboratories, which are for Metal Processing, Electrician and Electronics, Basic Chemistry, Basic Computer Operation, Modern Manufacturing Technology, Environmental Engineering, E-business, etc. There are about 20,000 students on the campus.
